Hygienic Wall Cladding for Healthcare

Healthcare has a wide variety of environments with their own set of requirements.  From operating rooms to patient suites to compounding facilities, each area requires hygienic wall cladding that meets different needs but ultimately helps prevents healthcare associated infections (HAI).  Wall cladding can be a critical element of operating rooms.  These rooms are the most profitable part of a hospital so any downtime negatively impacts a hospital’s revenue stream.  The hygienic walls in an operating suite must be robust enough to perform day in and day out under constant use.

While traditional white panels may be adequate for compounding facilities, subdued pastel colors may be preferred in operating rooms.  Printed panels depicting nature scenes can be used in patient suites to help reduce patient anxiety.

Requirements include:

  • Impervious and non-porous
  • Resistant to damage from antiseptics and cleaning chemicals
  • Have no cracks or seams where contamination can grow
  • Have high impact resistance to minimize cracks, scratches and dents
  • Resists stains and odors
  • Require minimal maintenance to ensure minimal downtime
  • Durable with a long life
  • Variety of colors or printed scenes
